If you had asked me - even a year ago - if I thought I would ever run for Eagle City Council, I would have
laughed and said (quite honestly), “no way.” I was content to allow other people to manage our city finances, deal with the politics and make decisions about the direction of our community.
Because of my work on the Eagle Police budget, I started attending city council meetings. I started to see areas
where my skills, abilities and experience could benefit the city. I saw an opportunity to make a positive difference in our community. My "no way" slowly shifted to "well, maybe" and eventually a campaign.
I didn't really know what to expect from the campaign for City Council - but what a truly amazing experience it
turned out to be! I appreciate the many fascinating people I have met in the last few months. I appreciate their willingness to share their hopes and concerns for Eagle. I was proud to be endorsed by the North Ada County Foothills Association and Idaho Statesman. But most of all, I was moved by the generous support of family, friends and strangers willing to throw their backing to a political newcomer. Thank you all! You are the reason we have such a great community.
In the end, the open council seats went to two other candidates, but I do not look back at my campaign with even a moment's regret.
I gained invaluable wisdom, incredible new friends and a renewed appreciation for this fantastic city. My wish to make a positive difference in our community has not changed. I will simply find a different way to do that.
Thank you, again, for all of your support! - Amy Aaron, November 2009
